From their early days, Yogi chose to produce their footwear in Portugal, opting for a 3rd generation family-owned business that specialises in mocassins. Hand made and hand finished, only the best materials are used: full leather uppers, leather laces and crepe or Vibram soles.  Sustainable development and ethical practice are cornerstores in Yogi's philosphy. Unlined mocassins mimimize waste and reduce the use of solvent based adhesives. Next to that, most materials are locally sourced, including vegetable tanned leathers, natural crepe outsoles and recycled shoeboxes.
The original inspiration for Yogi was an little known brand called Earth shoes. Yogi's founders came across those while buying up old dead stock in the early 1990s. The style of those Earth shoes strongly resembled another older brand called Roots, which was a popular band with London Soul Boys in the 1970s. The throwback to that style inspired the first line of Yogi shoes. It was only a matter of time before people like Paul Weller, Noel Gallagher and Bobby Gillespie starting wearing Yogi, propelling the brand's popularity in the early years.
As a smaller, yet vibrant brand, Yogi has managed to do a series of inspiring collaborations throughout the years. This includes collabs with musician Johnny Marr (of The Smiths, Modest Mouse, The Pretenders), designer Nigel Cabourn, Paris sneaker store Starcow, hiking brand Hikerdelic and more.
We're excited to have them on board.
