LIVING YOUR BEST LIFE • JAMEL ARMAND

While working on his new solo exhibition, Half Song, on view at Bisou Gallery as of April 11, Jamel went out of his way to take us on a stroll through his hometown of Den Haag, showing us some of his current favourite spots to hang out, have lunch, or simply unwind. Along the way, he also took us back into his past, pointing out where he used to work while studying and the quiet corners of the city that shaped his early days as an artist. Between familiar streets and hidden alleys, stories surfaced naturally, revealing how closely his work is tied to the rhythm of the city. He spoke about routines, memories, and the small, overlooked moments that often spark new ideas. Some places felt like checkpoints in his journey, others like safe havens he returns to when he needs to slow down. In these pauses, Den Haag becomes more than just a backdrop, it turns into a living archive of experiences, friendships, and reflections.

Dressed in his favourite working outfit, topped of with a pink pair of Vans Authentics (could it be his favourite colour..), Jamel took us under his wings and reminded us of the importance of stepping away from daily routines once in a while, to reset our perspective on life. Taking a break from the familiar helps to see the future more clearly. Thanks for the good vibes!
