With a heritage of over 75 years, the Cléon factory - where all Kleman shoes are produced - is recognized for its technical savoir faire and high quality standards. It employs around 45 people and is located in La Romagne (Maine-Et-Loire). There, skilled teams make the shoes come to life that are designed right next door.
The Cléon factory was founded right after WWII by Réné Cléon, a shoe and bootmaker by trade. Réné had spent 5 years in captivity in Germany, where he had kept on designing small scale leather shoes, dreaming of one day starting his own business. That business grew and grew, and in the 1970s and 1980s, his sons Jacques and Louis-Marie took over and diversified activities.
The name Kleman is a contraction of Cléon Manufacture, when they became the official supplier for several French public administrations in 1988. That included the French railways, Air France, customs departments and even the army.
Because they were initially reserved for trades seeking security, sturdiness and quality, most of Kleman's iconic models carry the ISO EN-20347 standard and thus have an additional guarantee thanks to anti-slip, abrasion resistance, and the innocuousness of materials.
Kleman shoes easily survive fashions and trends by offering a raw and authentic unisex style. Their models will charm both men and women who seek a certain efficiency in a pure and uncompromising style. Their Padror leather tyrolean shoe and other boots or derbies have remained unchanged since the 1980s. A sober and functional worker shoe which now dresses a new generation of talented urban dwellers around the world.
